IIHS (Institution Deemed to be) University opened the 2025–26 academic year on 26 August 2025 with an orientation for Master’s students and doctoral scholars. Held at the IIHS, Kengeri Campus, the event brought together nearly 200 faculty, staff, and alumni of the IIHS Urban Fellows Programme to welcome the first cohort of IIHS University.
Vice-Chancellor Aromar Revi welcomed students to their learning journey and reflected on the principles enshrined in the Preamble to the Constitution of India. In his address, Aromar touched upon how IIHS University’s unique and distinct interdisciplinary approach is designed to educate a new generation of urban practitioners who can help address complex and emergent challenges for India and the world.
Parallel academic briefings introduced doctoral scholars and students from the four interdisciplinary Master’s programmes to curricula, pedagogic approaches, and academic support available to them. Students, faculty and staff then toured the Campus, experiencing how its spaces integrate teaching, research, and practice.
Students spent their first week in multiple orientation sessions, allowing them to interact with peers and members of the faculty, while familiarising themselves with the environment and facilities at the IIHS, Kengeri and Sadashivanagar Campuses.
