The SoG engages with institutional, financial, social, and physical infrastructure development, and builds enabling governance frameworks to realise decent employment, responsible investment, and innovation.

This work focuses on:

  • Designing plans and policies to enable safe, sustainable, and equitable urban infrastructure and service delivery.
  • Supporting the implementation of catalytic infrastructure projects.
  • Embedding resilience as a foundational principle of infrastructure development.

  • K. C. Sivaramakrishnan Expert Committee to study the alternatives for a new capital for the state of Andhra Pradesh (2014)IIHS was part of this five-member committee appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to frame strategic, economic, social, and infrastructure priorities for Andhra Pradesh’s new capital. IIHS led the design of a USD 75 billion investment plan covering all districts, while conducting extensive stakeholder negotiations and public consultations./small>
  • Report to the XV Finance Commission: The Potential of Urbanisation to Accelerate Post-COVID Economic Recovery (2020-2021)This report, prepared for the XV Finance Commission, addressed the potential of new greenfield towns and cities to aid post-COVID-19 economic recovery and defined strategic measures and priorities at national, state, and regional levels to accelerate urbanisation, to promote a post-COVID-19 economic recovery, including a financial envelope for investments over 2021–31. The recommendations focused on strategic investments to reduce inequality between and within states and strengthen regional linkages.
