Preedip Balaji has a doctoral degree from REVA University, Bengaluru, and a master’s degree from Bishop Heber College, Bharathidasan University, both in library and information science. He is a certified library educator and researcher, having received a Library Educator’s Certificate from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 2023, the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan India Scholarship in May 2011, and the UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship in December 2009. He was a Junior Research Fellow at the Documentation Research & Training Centre, Indian Statistical Institute, Bengaluru, where he contributed to UNESCO’s 2011 Report on Open Access in the Asia–Pacific Region for the Global Open Access Portal (GOAP), and translated the Universal Decimal Classification from English to Tamil. Earlier in his career, he held various roles at IKP Knowledge Park and the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Preedip has been a member of the IIHS Library since 2012. He oversees Library services and offers information services for academic and research communities. This involves providing course support, reference services, user instruction, community engagement, initiatives for knowledge dissemination and scholarly communication, and information resources management.
Since 2019, Preedip has been organising the Bengaluru Public Libraries Walk. He has contributed to the development of the IIHS Urban Glossary series to support learning and currently curates the IIHS Library Guides, which provide the University community access to authoritative reference resources.
