Deyatima Ghosh is a field ecologist and animal cognition biologist. She brings perspectives from these two fields to understand how animals behave in the wild and apply these insights to the conservation of species and the ecosystem services they provide. Her work spans a range of landscapes, from forests and agroecosystems to urban habitats, and covers multiple taxa, including amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
She received her PhD in Ecology (Zoology) from the University of Calcutta in 2021, following which she held postdoctoral positions at the University of Lincoln, UK; Nanjing Forestry University, China; and the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), India.
She served as Visiting Faculty at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur (2025), and as Assistant Professor at Jain University, Bengaluru (2025–26).
