Deepika Jha specialises in land governance and its intersections with urban development, regulation, and service delivery. She has studied land administration systems in over 15 Indian states, focusing on land records management, system modernisation, and the integration of land information with planning and municipal practices.
Her work spans both technological and institutional dimensions, addressing systemic gaps and identifying scalable practices to improve transparency, efficiency, and reliability. She has also advised Central, state, and city governments on strengthening urban land information systems and aligning them with planning and development processes. Positioned across the rural–urban continuum, her research explores the implications of land governance for tenure security, development planning, citizen convenience, and real estate regulation.
Deepika holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi. She enjoys bringing insights from her applied research and policy advisory work into the classroom, especially on themes of land governance and urban regulation.
