Sports are an integral part of campus life and learning at the University. The University provides a safe, inclusive, and gender-neutral space for learners to enjoy sports and recreation without traditional notions of form or competition.
By encouraging the embedding of sports into daily life, IIHS empowers learners to set and achieve fitness goals, cultivate a lifelong appreciation for physical activity, and make informed choices about health and well-being.
Learners have access to a range of facilities in and around the Campus, including spaces for indoor and outdoor sports, such as yoga, football, cricket, kabaddi, kho-kho, table tennis, chess, and carrom, among others. They also have access to the Playground at the IIHS, Kengeri Campus, which can be repurposed for mini football, running track, mini hockey, basketball, and volleyball.
This philosophy runs through the IIHS Annual Sports Day, a student-led event where learners take charge of organising, managing, and participating in a range of sports and physical activities.
Learners are also required to take a Foundation Course on Play & Yoga, which introduces them to physical activity as a pathway to wellness, teamwork, and lifelong fitness. This experiential course encourages participation in sports, while also covering first aid and injury prevention. It fosters a holistic approach to movement, integrating play into daily life.
