K Aysha Jennath is a climate researcher and practitioner specialising in the physical and social dimensions of climate change adaptation, with a focus on geographies and populations that remain underrepresented in both climate science and policy. Her research has advanced the understanding of climate-associated population mobility and immobility in coastal India. She has expertise in climate hazard projections and risk assessment across urban, coastal, and small island contexts.

Her current work focuses on the climate vulnerability of marginalised migrant workers in urban areas and on co-developing pathways for climate-resilient and inclusive urban futures across South Asia. This research is grounded in sustained collaboration with communities, civil society organisations, and public institutions across Kerala, Karnataka, and Odisha, and contributes directly to policy development. Aysha’s work has been featured across both academic and public platforms. She has authored opinion pieces in Nature India, The Hindu, and The Wire, addressing climate risks faced by migrant and coastal communities.

She is a Chapter Scientist and Contributing Author for the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report Special Report on Climate Change and Cities. She is also a Fellow of the Indo–Pacific Cooperation Network of the Japan Foundation and the Australian Institute for International Affairs, a network of researchers and practitioners focused on disaster resilience in the Indo–Pacific region.

Aysha is actively engaged in capacity building and training for practitioners and early-career researchers on integrating climate change into research and practice.
