The University Library aims to be the largest reference library on urbanisation in the Global South. Since 2014, it has served as a repository of interdisciplinary knowledge covering 35 disciplinary areas from across the world.
The Library is central to the institution’s mission to build a world-class research, knowledge and teaching hub focused on India’s urbanisation that also draws upon processes from across the world. The collections are rooted in Indian and South Asian contexts while representing the best of global knowledge.
Over the next 15 years, the Library aims to grow into a 200,000+ volume collection, incorporating books, digital repositories, multimedia archives, learning materials, films, and interdisciplinary research materials. Through partnerships with leading libraries worldwide, it will act as a key hub for urbanisation research and digitisation.
The IIHS University Library provides reference and academic support to faculty, students, and researchers, and facilitates circulation services, document delivery, and collection development across the University’s locations.
The Library serves as a hub for research, academic engagement, and knowledge dissemination, ensuring seamless access to high-quality resources.
The University Library will have a signature building at the heart of the upcoming Campus at Kengeri, Bengaluru, offering state-of-the-art resources, ergonomic design, and global best practices. The Library collections and facilities will have special collections, archival material, and advanced digitisation and research infrastructure, and will accommodate multiple Indian languages.
